City addressing pavement marking concerns in Lawrence
The City of Lawrence is aware of concerns regarding pavement marking work completed this morning in different parts of Lawrence.
The restriping work occurred today sometime between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. in North Lawrence, in the southbound lanes from the City limits to the Kansas River Bridge as well as on westbound 6th Street from Vermont Street to Congressional Drive. No restriping work was scheduled in these areas.
This pavement marking work was not performed by City crews or a City contractor. City staff became aware of the issue after work was underway and are actively coordinating with the Kansas Department of Transportation to review what happened and determine the appropriate corrective steps.
These markings do not meet the quality standards expected for Lawrence streets, and the City is working to make sure the issue is addressed.
Drivers should continue to use caution in the affected areas while the City works through the correction process. The City will share additional information as soon as corrective work is confirmed.
